s Dorothy had a first period spare, she had made it a habit to head to Athe library after hearing the announcements made by Ozzie Radio. She would cut across the Hurontario Street parking lot with Toto at her heels and while Mrs. Wilson was checking out a book for another student, she would slip him into the reference room undetected. Spreading out her math books and with calculator in hand, she would continue working on Mr. Richmire's latest calculus problem or Ms. Teskey's chemistry formula. In no time at all, her total concentration was placed on math or science and she would fail to see Toto leave the room until she would hear the familiar disapproval in Mrs. Wilson's voice as she stormed, "Dorothy Gale, did you bring that mutt in here AGAIN???" Dorothy would leave the safety ofher room and with head down, approach the usually friendly and helpful librarian. However, Toto's constant pestering of students as they tried to work and his continual shedding on the new couches in the reading room had simply gone too far. Mrs.Wilson knew that something had to be done and ifit would take a letter from the Simcoe County District School board banning all dogs from the library, so be it. Armed with Policy 246-b, she exclaimed to Dorothy, "This has to stop now! I have permission to take this retriever out of here and tum him over to the proper authorities" and she promptly stuffed him in a duffle bag and out the door she flew, dog and all. Dorothy sat down in the pit as tears began to well up in her eyes. She
reached in her back pack, pulled out her cell phone and messaged Auntie Em with news of the removal of her beloved pet. Auntie
Em promptly returned the call, stating that Mrs. Wilson was,
in fact, allowed to take this action. "Oh Auntie Em, how
could you let her do this. "Why she is simply a wicked witch for taking away my Toto!" Dorothy sobbed as the bell rang ending the first period. Ending the call, she made her way to the Tech hall as tears streamed down her face.
