rade Nines have traditionally been termed by various names- the Niner Minors, ' The bottom of he Totem Pole', 'short people', etc. and this year, Munchkins have been added to the list. Following the theme from 'The Wizard of Oz', those first year CCI students have a great deal in
common with this group that met Dorothy when she exited her house after landing on the other side of the rainbow. At CCI, they make up the largest number in the 4 grades- 301. In the movie, there were 124 Munchkins. No two Munchkins were dressed the same and sometimes the differences were only slight, but there were still differences . At CCI, each grade 9 student is also unique in dress and personality. Even the first year twins of Jessica and Jessie Hendry, Tiffany and Crystal Orton, Nicole and K have their own character traits. The Munchkins came from all over the world. This holds true for the nines- they not just come from the feeder schools of the part of Simcoe County , but many are from out of province. Every one of the CCI niners are born in Canada, neat eh????? The Munchkins ruled over Munchkinland and within the next 2 or 3 years, our group will be reigning over CCI. At the present, the Grade 9 class may be short on stature, but they are huge with Fighting Owl school spirit!
'It's not always easy being a niner!' Kaitlyn Dance, Christian LaPierre, Aaron Pearce + Jessie Hendry (ABOVE) often have troubles with their lockers. Matt Brockwell + Brandon Lounds(TOP RT) attempt to reach the blackboard in Mrs. Jaffrey's computer class. Travis Swinell (BEL) has a similiar problem. T.J Ainger looks up to the Sr. students of CCI.
Ronald Coture(MID RT) and Jenna Fisher + Levi Beck try to rush to their next class. Alex Glueckler + Shelby Leal (BOT) experience the Gleaner camera in their face first hand! Tyler Davidson looks up at the people towering over him.
