The CCilmprov. Team was started in September 2006 by Dramatic Arts teacher Ms. Burt, who wanted to introduce students to this fun and exciting aspect of acting in a more competitive forum. In their very first year of entering a team to the Canadian Improv. Games, CCI made it to the Zone finals! Improvisers consist of Team Captain: Matt Clayton, Matt Lawrence, Mary Reynolds, Amy Robinson, Andrew Presniak:, Laura Proctor, Jenna Coghlan , Clayton Russell , Adam Gravel, Cody Stewart, Tasha Stewart, Gordie Coulter and Zach Keenie. These students worked together to learn the various skills needed to build audience Ask Fors into ln1prov. events that are categorized as either Life Event, Theme Event, Story Event, Style Event, Character Event or Open Event.
improvisational Drama basically means making up a scene on the spot while incorporating suggestions from the audience. This requires trained improvisers who have good listening skills, a strong comfort and trust level, dynamic ideas that keep the scenes advancing, and the wherewithal to increase the stakes of any given scenario.
The Improv Team/Club practices regularly once a week, with increased practices cl~e to competition dates. All CCI students are invited to come and develop these valuable Improv . skills throughout the year , while the most dedicated and skilled Improv. actors will be selected to compete on the Team.
