Ienior Girls Basketball Team had a good 2006 season. The team bad a great start winning 3 exhibition games, our ,ague game and finished second in a rough Toronto Tournament at George Brown College. The team attended two :ournaments which allowed the girls to continue to improve team play and bond in many events over the weekends.
e play saw some tough teams but through unfailing drive, the seniors fi11ished 3rd overall in our AAAA division and nto the GBSSA semi-finals looking to the top. The team played well in the semis but unfortunately faced a tough
ent ending our season. Overall, the Senior Girls held an impressive win-loss record of 13 to 7 showing that they were e with which to be reckoned. Our team included captain and guard Tonya Calles with her unfailing effort and team
to guard Sarah Bruce and her great end to end play. Natalie Hastings, another of our guards, was a whirlwind on the ;bowing good defense and heads up ball. Allison DeRuiter was a starting forward and tucked in as safety in the senior
Katie Bell, as a fifth year player, was a great transition player and ran the floor. Sam Currie, a strong post, added
•defense and clutch rebounds. Our Twin Towers under the net included Kate McKay with great defensive boards 1
rittni Gill who was our leading offensive scorer and leading rebounder in both ends. Tristin Vogel, forward, and Jenn fS, guru·d, wound up in the 2 and 3 position on the press and were major stealers and pressure players. Marni Sandell down the floor, ball in tow while Devon Franklin added some much needed outside shots and great passing. Thanks

m with a record of 20 wins and 6 losses in tournament league play.
The Senior Boys Basketball Terun had an outstanding year as they reached the GBSSA A A A A final for the first time in seven years. The Fighting Owls were only a few points away from capturing their first title since 1989. The CCI Seniors lost to only one team from Simcoe County in the entire season, finishing with an 18-10 overall record. Highlights of the year include capturing the B Division Championship in the North Bay West Ferris Classic, defeating defending GB AAAaA champion Barrie Eastview twice, and winning the Consolation Championship in the Collingwood McDonalds Senior Invitational. Wayne Wilson, team captain and Collingwood McDonald ALL-Star, led d1e Owls in rebounding, defense and was the 2nd leading scorer, while captain Andrew Palmer slashed through the opponents defense to lead the Owls in scoring. Greg Van Boxmeer was the rookie of the year and ran the offense from the point and was the leading free throw shooter. Josh James was the 3rd leading scorer ru1d led the team in assists, while Justin Ford was the leading scorer in the GB Final. Cam MacLaughlan was a strong force inside, utilizing the CCI Seven. Colin Hesp played great defense and picked up his game in the McDonalds Invitational. Zack OGormru1 was om leading three-point shooter, Sean LeSaux was the most improved and Ryan MacLaughlan was a strong rebounder. Colin Bristow aud Jon Bristow added a scoring punch and energy as part of the pair of brothers on the 2007 Fighting
Owls.
