One of the most popular assemblies each year is the annual Wigs For Kids which focuses on the need for a cure for cancer. Students and staff play an important role in the Wigs assembly by either donating money, hair or in many cases, both. There were two highlights of the afternoon. One was the de-shaving of our history and law teacher, Mr. McFarlane. His daughter, Gillian had never seen her dad without a face of whiskers. A huge round of applause was given to Susie Gillespie who traded in her long mane for the totally shaved look. For her outstanding efforts of raising donations as well as giving her hair so that it could be made into a wig for a child going through chemo, she was presented with a large bouquet of flowers. At the conclusion, the Cancer Society left with a $5000 cheque. A pat on the back for all of those students and staff who worked for this worthy cause.
