Cheerleading is a sport for all types of athletes as it involves three distinct team positions; the flyers, the bases and the thirds. Flyers are the ones who get tossed up, thrown around and who are the focal point of each and every stunt. Bases are the lifters and catchers of the stunt while the thirds are responsible for keeping the stunt steady and the flyer in the air. No position is more important than any other as all are needed to have a successful stunting team .
Unfortunately, cheerleading often comes with the stereotype of pompoms and megaphones, but those who have witnessed a cheer routine in action know what true cheerleading is all about; the love of extreme performance stunting and dance. Go Owls!
