Once again this year, we have been fortunate to welcome several international students to our CCI family. There are three programs bringing students to Collingwood Collegiate.
In our ISE 3-Month Exchange Program, CCI students Shalen Cole, Kayla Edwards and David Marsden welcomed their respective partners from France: Alexiane Bernard, Caroline Denoux and Paul Pottier. The French students mTived in August, 2007 and returned to France in November. Our CCI students then put all their focus on finishing up Semester One work and arranging with their Semester Two teachers to complete their work independently before heading off to France from February until May, 2008. The 3-month exchange program has a long history here at CCI and we look forward to sending more candidates off to this exciting program in the years to come.
Our visiting international students are generally here one or two semesters, but we had two short-term visits in Semester One. Young Seok (Brian) Do was from Korea and Laura Strobel visited with Tansyn Hood and her family as part of the Experience Canada program. Also this year, we were happy to have Yuko Nagashima from Japan, Min Ji (Chloe) and Min Joon Kim from Korea and Iris Dobschall from Germany join us to continue their high school studies. In Semester Two, Niklas Egge arrived from Germany to join our CCI family . The Rotary exchange brought us another welcome addition to the CCI community when Tzu-Hao (Brian) Hung came to CCI from Taiwan.
All of these students have joined in the many activities and sports at CCI with enthusiasm, proving once again that teenagers around the world have more similarities than differences. The students and staff of CCI have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to welcome and interact with all of our international visitors. In many cases, the result has been friendships that will last long for many years to come.
