The Fighting Owls continued their winning ways on the trails and hills of Simcoe County as they created another incl'edibly succ;essful season. A massive team of over 70 runners proved from the very first league race that the "Black Sea" would be tough to beat. With dedicated effort in practice and with focused and spirited efforts at meets, the Owls became the loudest and most feared competitors in this area.
All six teams that make up the overall Black and Gold squad made great contributions to the winning season as all six finished the season in the top two in theirrespectivecategorieswith Midget Girls, Midget Boys, Junior Boys, Senior Girls anaSenior Boys aU capturing Simcoe County titles. In the end, ail these efforts led to the capturing of C.C.I.'s 10th consecutive Golden Boot as Simcoe County's beet Cross-Country team. Coningwood now has a winning streak of 40 straight league meet victories!
At the GBSSA Championships, hosted by C.C.I. qt DUntroGn's Highlands Nordic Trails, the Owls again showed they were U . team to beat. The Black and Gold did not disappoint as they flaehed tbel( talons on route to their 7th consecutive GBSSA Overalt eoinbined Team Championship. C.C.I.'s Midget Girls placed 2nd while the Midget Boys were 1st as GB Champions. The Junior Girls placed 7thand the Junior Boys to 2nd in their race. To cap the day, the Senior girls were second and the Senior Boy Owls ran away with GB Championship honours. In the end, C.C.I. sent 5 of Its 6 teams to the OFSAA All-Ontario Finals In Ottawa.
Thirty athletes then descended on the nation's capital-to-take on the province's best. There, Collingwood's best showed1hey bao~ed amongst Ontario's best as the Midget Glt'ls plaQed 1otti it!ORtarto with the Midget Boys ending up 22nd. T.he Junior boyS gtab~.anh as a team with the Senior Girls placing 28th and the Senior BOys putting themselves near the top of the heap In 1Qttl.
In all, it was a greet season for grit, effort and results. It was earauniiV one that made coaChes Coukell, Hammond, Hafduk' and Allio.....,IAII't:..: proud.
