CCI teachers and students enter into the wonderful month of November clean shaven in order to undertake the arduous task of growing, culturing, and manipulating their facial hair for a chance to be crowned Mr Movember.
The concept crosses international boundaries in an effort to raise awareness and money for male health awareness, specifically prostate cancer and new this year mental health. The CCI community has been awesome and adventurous in its ability to raise money and awareness through the Mr Movember contest.
This year saw the introduction of "Bling" chains and a championship trophy created from concept to production by our own student body. The contenders competed in 3 different categories: 1970's Hockey player mustache, leisure suit and open in both staff and student events.
This year also saw the venue move into the gymnasium due to the overwhelming success of the previous years and billed as a "must see" event here at CCI.
The fans were treated to a dazzling array and sometimes breathtaking plethora of facial hair and outlandish costumes. Some fan favourites like Mr Kujala and Mr Sproule with Mr Hammond did not see the light of the Finals as some felt they deserved. Jacob Gardhouse was awesome in his leisure suit.
The finals saw a teacher dominated event with Mr McMullin ceding the victory to the once again dominant Mr Hoag. Mr Clayton was the 3rd finalist but after a judge's ruling, he was found to be in violation of contest rules and was not permitted from using the band to support his "applause'o'meter" efforts. However, Mr Clayton should be commended for testing the boundaries of the IL Mr Movember ethical standards.
CCI raised over $500 this year.
