Throu8houl Lhe 1920's. ru8by rei8n- ed supreme. In 1929. the learns be8an to play in an or8anized leasue. the Ceorsian Bay Qusby-foolball Leasue. C.C.l. dominated this leasue. oflen defeatin8 arch rivals. Barrie C. l. and Owen 6ound C.l.
The sport faced some difficulties dur- ins the Depression and War years due
to a lack of money. equipment and players but it was kepl alive throush in- lerforrn and exhibition 8ames. unlil ils reappearance in the !ale 40's.
The football players of Lhe 1950's played well. but they didn't win a lol. Even so. the banquets afler the sames on 6aturday were Lhe place Lo be.
Teams of the 60's faced many pro- blems. bul now Lhere were more teams in the new GB66A lea8ue and 6tayner became our sreatesl rival.
The 1970's were a decade of ups and downs. Afler Lhe Juniors narrowly miss- ed a play-off berth in 1975 and a no-win season in 1978. they took consolation in
their victories over the slron8 Barrie Central Learns. our new rivals.
The season of 1980 was an indication of thin8s Lo come. The Junior Learn won the 6imcoe County championship for Lhe ftrsllimeandwentonLoLheCB&SAfinal - another first for any CCI football team. but unfortunately they losl to Markham. Over the decade. both Learns played al the CB66As. but only two CCI Learns have ever sone all Lhe way. the Juniors in 1985 and 1986. They were sreal vic- tories. a reminder of football's slorious past and. hopefully. a Lrend-selter for t he future.
