Last Monday momin8. March 29. 1954 led by their Trumpet and Drum Band play- in8 ·&hould Auld Acquaintance Be for- 8ot9'. lhe pupils of lhe Collin8wood Dislricl Colle8iale Institute marched away from their former school on Hume &lreel and paraded happily and expec- tantly lo a more modem life of leamin8 in lhe fine new Colle8iale on south Hur- ontario &treel.
t\nd as they turned the comer. a pa8e of history also tumed. brin8in8 an end to the chapter of the older buildin8·s lon8. worthy. and memorable service as a secondary school.
Opened as such in 1925. illerminaled this phase of its· career with Monday's transfer of academic operation. which incidenlly look place on the 29th day of its· 29th year. and will soon be8in a new chapter of ils· history in becom- in8 a public school.
To mark their move lo the new loca- tion. the teachers and pupils 8athered as usual at their old school at 9 a.m. and assembled in the auditorium where alon8 with members of lhe Collin8wood Dislricl Colle8iale lnslilule Board and municipal officers. they held a briefcer- emony of farewell.
