The Gleaner is pub~ished to achieve two goals~
A year-b J )k provides a lasting record of school activ-
ities ~nd it offers encouragement to budding. writers. and art.ists•.
A yearbook, after you have left school, is price~ less. Each time you look at it new memories of parties games and friends will enhance its value. The Gleaner literary competitions are opportunities for those interested in.writing to see their essays and poems printed. For art.ists illus~rating articles is .a challenge to their imagination and skill.
W~ have tried to make the Gl~aner representative of all phases of school life for the diversity o~ articles is tangible . evidence of the development of the students ac~demicly, culturally an~ socially.
The, yearbook .~choes the balance in school life be~ tween academic work and extra-curricular activities. This balanc~ will be maintain~d if. each student. un- derstands that education equips us to face life and that it provides the tools with which to earn . a living as well as moulding character and impa!'t.iI;lg culture.
