Happily Bobby raced home. Whereas it had taken him nearly an hour to go to Mrs. Newson's, it took less than half an hour to go home.
Re rushed into the house, callirtg. "Are you feeling better, mothe r?"
There was no answer, so he went intD her room. She smiled up at him.
"Mom, Mrs. Newson gave me this note to give you. Will you read it to me?"
She smiled. "I suppose that will. be possible."
She opened the envelope and something green, besides the note fluttered out. A bill!
"Oh, Bobby, look at this. I~'s s igned "A V alentine and it's twenty dollars." Tears were in her eyes.• "We can use this can't we?" Then she smiled.
Slowly she read the note. Then her voice broke. "Oh, Bobby , people ar e so kind to us."
"I know, mom, but look at what I got you for Val-
ent ine 's Day."
Slowly she drew the paper off.
