Dear C.C.I.'ers:
The school year was just nicely begun when the trials and trib-
ulations of Initiation were upon us. Friday September 29th was a hil- arious day. The second formers were blessing their lucky stars that they so fortunately missed Initiation last year. Our boys looked ex- ceptionally funny in their skirts and kerchiefs and their faces plas- tered with make-up. The girls introduced a new fashion trend with their berry boxes perched sedately on their heads, with large feathers waving in the breeze. I might add that hobble skirts were back in fashion for one day, with the material in them reminding us of pioneer days .
The new men teachers took Initiation on the chin, "rhich showed us what good sports they are. The pin curls and silk kerchiefs were quite an attraction. The lady teachers were rather meBk about the whole thing. They were ordered to wear the side of their hair in pin curls but we noticed only one of themwith more than three pin curls in her hair. "Ladies we sincerely advise you to wear your make-up."
We say "well done" to the two old troupers Hr . Culbert and Nr . Boyle who so very ela.borately presentod the baby bibs to our neli teachers .
Yes, Friday September 29th was a day we first formers will never forget. After a busy day of signing placards and trying to do our school work we dashed home to get out of our outfits, and to appear once more in the streets, in clothes of the good old 1950 style.
P. S. Nay I add to the older students of Ollr school ".Te r.ot more fun out of wearing our outfits thelll you did l':lUghing at thorn."
Sincerely yours. One of those
Intolerable
First formers.
