75
What a gala night! We began by passing down a re- ception line formed of such school dignitar~es as Captain D. A. MacRae, Cadet Major Bob Fawcett, -Jim Burns and Miss Cath~rlne ' H e r o n .
The gym was transformed by a roof of multicoloured streamers drawn up to a centre from which hung a cascade of big beautiful balloons .
-'
A precedent was established at this dance. For the
'first time a Cadet Queen was chosen. Each class' ohose
i t "s candidate and from this array of pulchitude a commit- tee of staff members and their wives chose as Q:ueen of the Ball, Mis~ Shirley McLean of grade XI Commercial.
'" Congrats' to you , Shirley!"
The grand march to the auditorium where lunch was served was led by Shirley McLean and her escort "Jee-p" Jackson, and Cadet Ma jor Fawcett and Betty Taylor.
After more fun and mo~e dancing, the Anniversary
Waltz and the sound of bursting balloons' brought to art
end one more Cadet Dance in the history of C.C.I. ,
