The wnnual CDC! track and field meet was held. A change from other years, the field ev- ents were held on the school grounds in the morning. In the aiiternoon everyone trooped to the exhibition park to partici- pate in or watch the track e:'- ents. This year as last each girl could enter only four single ev- ents. which made for keen com- pet~tion ~!though t h e w e a t h e r w~s dull.
Ji'1 the Senior goun Jean Lockhart came through with flying colours by winning the hio-h iumu and 7'5 yard dash, tieing . with Leola Miller in tho 5"> and 100 yH.rd dashes, and with .Toam1 HIOurg-hton 'Winnin~ t h e three-legged race. This made J ean rSenior charrn:oion w1th to- ta1 of 20 points. Other Srenior event winners were June Lav- ers in. the hop step and .iumo ~nd the baseball throw, Sonja Nisula in the broad jump and ErVI'\lyn !Dancy in the soccer drop kick.
Doreen Watson held her own in the IntermediaJte group by winning the three dashes a~d entering one other event, to gam :> total of 13 points. Nancy Scoular won the bro.ad .iump, .Joan Houghton the high jump. Mary Bevnon the hop step and iumn, Shirley Macklem the baseball throw .arnd Noreen Pre- zio the soccer drop kick.
The Junior competition was esp.ecially kie•en and it wasn't until the last even.t that a win- ner was proctaimed. With - and two seconds Rosemary McDon-

The Glanville Trophy which was donated last y.ear by Mrs. Glanville to the girl obtalrn•ing the highest number of points was won this year by Jean rLrock- hart, the Senior champion.

At the close of the event.-, '¥'...,"'1 the total points were cal- culated. Midland was the w~n ner with 57 points, Orillia sec- onrt with 5•?. points. Barrie and Collingwood were fighting hard for <third but Barrie had a two roint advamtage and placed third with forty-one and a half points.
To end this day of competi- tion on a friendly note the com- petitors and officials were €1::1•- tert.ained at a banquet and r1Pnce Hranged for them by the Mi':lland High School.
On Eaturady, Novemlber 17, the P"irls' volleyball teams trav- elled up tOr Orillia to attempt to get rthe GEOrgian Bay Champ- iS•:Jshin. We star'ed out at 8:31 a.m. but we soon had bus troubl'} and. as it was not advisable to hitchhike, we were late. Th? first time the bus s'to•nro•ed was prac- tically on l'Orp of the nilroad tracks at Midhurst. When we re::ched Orillia, a tow truck of- fered to get us up to the high school, but r.srther than suffer this ignomy, the engine decide-l to runr.
Unfortunately, the results of the games were not highly sat- i.~faot·ory f o r u s . I n t h e s e n i o r e-irls' game, Alliston came first, with Midland runninrg a close SJ~cond. Collingwood and Orillia tied for third place and Barrie came last. The junior girls did tetter.
