 This year there was .a tie be- tween Mla.Lcolm McLeod and Ed. Cook for the hLghest individual points in the school. Thus they tied for the Wally Cook Trophy, which is a trophy awarded to the top athlete in C. C. I.'s Track amd Field Meet.
The 1annu:al Tudhope Track and Field Meet was held at Mid- land on Swturday, September 2:)th. MacLeod placed second in the senior mile and John Loug- heed won his specialty, the pole vau!t e•vtent. The competition as usual was tough and Midland High Slchool WOlll the Tudhope •Clllo in beatiln•g out Barrie by a half point. Our school finish- ed four.h. Th1s Meet ended the trrack and field competitions for 1951-52.

FOOTBALL - 1951
F'.Jr a ·change this year Coach Parkin d!eiCided to have a Jrmior Football Te'aJm which proved '<lin excellent id•ea as there were many juniors who were eligible and thene were few seniors.
The boys tried hard and fought all the way and did vey well in forci<ng a playoff with Allist()n, only to be beaten out by ,a 111arrow m.argin.
Most of the ball carrying this year was done by veteran Lon Cain who went for many yards and wra.s chosen most valuable player on o•ur team as he was a t·error on defe'n•ce and on of- fence.
The players who made up our tE.am this year were as follows: Fullba.cks-Ron Cain, who was our Capttain and carried the load and when yards were need-
ed they gave the ball to R.ed.
Walter D!ilntCY, who was lig'ht but effe·ctive and came through with two towchdowns when they were needed.
Halfbacks--J'Ohn Hill did most c,f cur pa.s:;ing ,and kicking and was high scorer.
Dab Gillies was moved from the U.n•e to •the backfield. He was big and could travel with the t-all.
Ray Burmister, a fast, cagey and hard hitting back and when he moved away we suffered a
.great loss.
Bill Bowers w:as smaJl but worked hard and made up for .s.iZJe in drive.
Quarterbac~s- Floyd MCIDer- .mid called the plays and did a very p,-ood job for his first year of ru.gby.
Paul Faith s•tarted out as a halfback but was moved up to auarterb~'l·Ck w h e n B u d B r o w n left school.
Flving Win.gs-Gerald Ron, small but had lots of drive and was very aggressive.
Grie.g Taylor wa.s our young- e:.t player and still has several years of junior left. He showed very well in pass receiving.
Bill Barker, .amo1ther of our kickers. He could really boot that ball.
End~'IY Crew, co-captain. "H!ands" Crew as he was known as he just couJdn't miss as pass. He was out for a while with an injured ba-ck.
Ron Taylor, o•ne of our best ta.cklers. When he hit them they felt it.
Sonny P.Jley was light but very fast and should shine as an end.
Dale Fawcett, a good p,ass re- ·ceiver and WS~nt for many yards on passes.
Middle~-Tom Scrannage was not V'ery big but he sure had what it ta.kes and he fearecl no- body.
Harrv Do•wner, he was big and h a r d .a n d w a s i n t h e middl~ when he was needed.
Don Ring, he sure did his bit to open UtP. .the holes and bring down• their ball oarriers.
Royce Leonard, he started the season late but he sure mad~ up for hi:; abs.ence with many jar- ring ta,ckles.
Insides-JDon ''Dib"' MacLean, one of the bigger boys .a.nd did much in breaking up the enemy attacks.
