   WSIC IN MAY
On the evening of May 29th, the audience in the C.D.C.I. auditorium buzzed with excitement as the Concert Band members took
,their places to begin their Music In May concert. The programme was light and varied. Four trumpeters, playing long Herald T~umpets hung with black and gold ceremonial banners, opened the concert. The mand then played several numbers including a Grand March, a waltz, an overture, and VooDoo, a hair-raising witch doctor's dance.
After the Band Wagon Draw, which the Band had been sponsoring to make money for the building of a vehicle for carrying Ban~ instruments on trips, the up-and eoming Junior Band took over the stage. This
Grade Nine Band played the numbers, 'Abide With Me, and Over the Rainbow very well.
The Senior Band played the last third of the programme. Colonel Hogey, a number by the Brass section, and a selection from
My Fai:r;-Lady were special favourites of the audience.
This concert, which signals the end of the season for the mana, promises to be an annual event. After this concert has been played, ~nd members have no more practices; they must spenQ their time studying for the June: examinations If' they do not study, and as, a
consequence fail their grade, they are automatically out of the Band. This requirement helps academic standings and keeps up Band standards.
