CHERRY PIE CONTEST
On January 7th, the C. D. C. I. cherry pie bakeoff was held..in the Home Eco-
nomics Department kitchen. The contestants were: Leone Raymer, XIA, Elizabeth Beacom, XIB, and Jane Watson, XIA, who was declared the winner.
On January 16th, the ·bakeoff for the north of Toronto area was held in the Toronto Hydro building. Esther Peterson of Peterborough and Jane Watson of the C. D. c. I. were the winners. On January 30th, these winners and six other regional represent- atives competed again at the Toronto Hydro building.
The Canadian Red Cherry Pie Baking Championship was won by Anne Heslop of Guelph's Macdonald Institute. Jane tied for second place with Louise Hill of Western University. Jane is to be congratulated on her success against formidable competition.

THE SOCIAL WHIRL
The social activities of the year have been numerous and very enjoyable. The season began
with an Initiation Dance held for the purpose of getting the new Grade Niners acquainted with Collegiate ways.
At least one Coke Dance a month has been held. In October, a Hallowe'en Dance took place also, and was followed, in November, by the traditional Sadie Hawkins Dance.
The Christmas Dance is always the highlight of the year. The gymnasium was decorated this time in the Christmas colours of red, green, white, and blue. Brightly decorated small trees lined the walls and an old fashioned cutter full of gaily wrapped gifts was the centre of attention in the middle of the floor. Everyone enjoyed the music by the Esquires of W alkerton and the lunch served in the Cafeteria.
The Social Convenors, Pat Currie and Rick Hurst, deserve much credit for the fine job they have done in organizing the social events of the school year. 5'3
