During the fall term, the Drama Club produced Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion which played two nights to capacity audiences. Claire and Bill Hawkins showed outstanding talent and maturity in the difficult roles of Eliza Doolittle and Professor Higgins res- pectively. The other players were: Glenn Raymer as Colonel Pickering; Rose Varty as Mrs. Higgins; Frank Butters as Alfred Doolittle; Elayne Black as Mrs. Eynesford- Hill; Pat Tymchuk as Clara; Harvey Robinson as Freddy; Marilyn Cose as Mrs. Pearce; and Patsy Giffen as the Parlormaid. The Bystanders were: Andrew Markle, Walter Borthwick, Jim Heron, Doug Hutchinson, Dennis Rainbird, and Bill Paton. Audrey Abernethy and Margaret Christenson assisted the play's director, Mr. Bruce Vance.
Mrs. Hamilton deserves credit forl:he stunning costumes which she borrowed and blended so effectively into the staging devised by Mr. Ridley and Mr. McBurney, Mrs. Millsap and Mrs. Blacklock assisted in the organising, publicity, and ticket-selling details of the production.
The Club presented Pygmalion in Thornbury Collegiate the next month, and entered Acts Three and Four of the play in the Georgian Bay Drama Festival. Although the per- formance was very good, it was not good enough to win the Best Play Award.
