Junior Football
This year because of a lack of players and insufficient playing equipment, the Senior team was not in operation. Fortunately, the powerful Juniors scooped up the torch and surged onward in posting their most impressive record for many seasons.
When the final whistle was sounded to declare the end of the football season, the C. D. C .l. Juniors boasted wins over Barrie Central, Barrie North, and Camp Borden. Their lone defeats came at the hands of Midland and Orillia.
The Orillia game was ·the major crisis for the Juniors, and, since they lost 8-0, it eliminated them as far as chances of winning the championship went.
The most notable player on the squad was the colourful rookie from Creemore, Wayne Noble, who, along with Chuck MacNicol, tied for the individual scoring championship.
Murray Hodges again demonstrated his superiority as one of the best linesmen in the league. The task of leading the team while on the field was left to the capable veteran quarterback, Wall Borthwick.
One of the most important reasons for the team's excellent record rests on the shoulders of their coaches, Messieurs Paton and Leyshon, who did superb jobs of guiding the team to victory.
With players like Wayne Noble, Walt Borthwick, Steve Wheeler, Ben Carruthers, and Chuck MacNicol, a II eligible to play on next year's Junior team, the future is the irs.
