Mid~et Basketball
The C. D.C. I. Boys' Midget Basketball team had the most successfu I year of any C. D.C. I. Boys' Basketball team
in the last eleven years. Making the Juniors look pathetic the Midgets lost to Barrie Central in a two game total points series. In the first gamĀ·e of the home and home
the Midgets lost their chance by inaccurate
series
shooting and went to Barrie with a narrow seven point

lead. The second saw Co IIi ngwood fa Iter considerably as they continually lost the ball and as a result they
lost the series.
Alas! No crys for the Collingwood Midgets or the
almost winless Juniors. (Jerry Rogers consistently threw
the ball into the bleachers) Alas for Mr. Paton and for Jerry Rogers who reluctantly turned to cub-reporting.
Captain Ken Saul of the Midgets just returned from a bout with the measles and was not in top shape for the finals. Gary Dunn continued to miss on his fast breaks after using his speed to break into the open . Don Blacklock and Brian Hodges' rebounding throughout the year was a big factor in the 7-2 record of the Midgets. Stewart "Porky" Stevenson played hot and cold all year but his consistent rough play and aggressive tactics bewildered many anoppositionplayer. Meanwhile a strong bench headed by Joe Cremona and "Stretch" Coukell led the team in various guttera I nosi es directed at the referees. Joe scored some long shots and held his check score less for the first four games. Wayne Ki Isby and Kim Forsberg showed potentia I while Bruce Abbots Johnny
Stevenson and Bill Weir will form the nucleus of next year's team.

There was a rumour started by manager Paul McEachern that the dismal display of the midgets in Barrie resulted from the absence of the Cheerleaders who broke their loyalty to the team in the last and most important battle of the season. The boys1 all fourteen of them1 including myself and the manager1 say boooo to them.
Mr. William Gough 1 humble coach of the Midgets. Editor's note:
Don't feel too badly girls; that's showbiz for you.
