Agriculture
This year the agriculture class attended the International Ploughing Match held at Owen Sound, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, and the College Royal at Guelph. The latter is the student counterpart of the Winter Fair. An unexpected feature of this trip was an over-night stay in Orangeville, because of road conditions.
These trips are part of the curriculum in agriculture and are of great interest to the students who engage in them.
Commercial
DISTRICT TYPING CONTEST
Each year on the first Saturday in March, the District 11 Tying Contest is held at one of the schools in the area. This year the competition was at Meaford on March 2. It is held by the Ontario Commercial Teachers' Association who contribute some of the awards. Competitors for the contest came from Stayner, Meaford, Owen Sound, Mount Forest, Hanover and Collingwood.
Collingwood made a good showing in the Senior Contest with Karen Prentice taking the individual typing award for high speed. Karen Prentice and Evelyn Fawcett also took the Senior Team Award. The Junior awards went to the Owen Sound competitors, however, with Joan Rainbird of C. C. I. a close runner-up.

At 1:30 p.m. we will leave for the Metropolitan Police Headquarters. Here we will see their filing systems, the line-up room, and the general operation. We will then go to Station #1, College Street, to see the management of a station. This tour has been arranged by Police Chief Mackey and will take approximately 3 hours.
We hope to leave for home about 4:30 p.m. These companies have definitely shown great interest in our education by their gracious and co-operative manner in the planning of our trip.
