In the Fall term, the Badminton Club got off to a flying start with more than sixty students in the gym each
Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, in- terest and attendance have noticeably de- clined during the Winter term, but we
have intentions, nevertheless, of entering a team in the C.O.S.S.A. tournament in April.
Our racquets are raised in salute to Mr. L. Pearson for his loyal support and encouraging guidance. ยท
The school did not have a curling club this year. Although the ice is donated free to the school for two nights a week there were not enough interested students. However the few students who did practice now and then, did manage to compete in some bonspiels, a mixed bonspiel at Dixie, and three boys bon- spiels, one at Alliston, Hanover, and the G. B. S. S. A. at our own club.
The G. B.S. S. A. (Georgian BaySecondary School Association) Curling Championship was held at the Collingwood Curling Club on Saturday March 7. With eleven teams competing, an elim- ination series was played. Teams entered were from Orillia, Sutton, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Alliston, Markham, Stayner, Barrie, Camp Borden, Pickering College and Collingwood. The Collingwood team skipped by Paul Hurst, vice Melvin Brock, second Wayne Butters, and lead Bill Shannon won the championship de- feating Alliston in the fourth and final game.
