Of war and peace the truth remains , theywhisper with a sigh
High above on four legged clouds the cowboy angel rides
With his candle lit into the sun though its glow is waxed in black
All except beneath the gates of Eden
The motorcycle , black Madona, two-wheeled Gypsy Queen
And its studded phantom cause the grey flannel dwarf to scream
At large wicked birds of prey that feed on his bread crumb sins
And there are no sins inside the gates of Eden
Conformity in society and the precious winds they rot
The ancient love of eternity pass through his lips in his songs
Along with the grievances of youth and of the multitudinous throngs
The truth of his words fall with acrushing but meaningless blow
For he can not cause the dumb to speak or change their useless life flow
He cries out for peace, not the devastation of war

THE FATHERS OF OUR CENTURY Judy MacNicol
Generations have stumbled on this road of life, Encountering sorrow, sickness and strife. Some have turned back, never to make
The goal, overshadowing all the heartbreak. Some have fought on, trying to gain
The crown of success, theirs only to claim. Had they also turned back, where would we be? For they were the fathers of our century.
But the war mongers crawl back for more and more
He shudders at the thought of the race to conformity
But the mass producers continue with their goal of uniformity ยท
He is hated by the multitudes for his stinging revelation of thought
They hate to think of battles they know must be fought.

WHICH WILL TRIUMPH? Ann Aldridge
War in the east; segregation in the west, Hate and killing found everywhere.
How much more can our world bear?
All are tired and want to rest,
How can we endure the test?
If we hate so much, how will we fare?
The result, to tell, no one will dare.
But someday our hate must reach its crest.
Love is needed, understanding more, It's the only way to remove the stain
To open up the door,
To :free ourselves from dread and pain, To remove all hate from e'en the core.
If Love is in us Hate must wane.

And
And
For
the paupers look each one, wishing for what the other has got
the prince and princess argue what is real and what is not
nothing is real outside the gates of Eden
At midnight my lover comes and tells me of his
dreams
With no attempt to shovel the glimpse into the
ditch of what each one means
Sometimes I think taht there are no words but
thlS to describe what is true
And there are no truths outside the Gates of
Eden.
