ยท Nineteen sixty-eight will be remembered as the first year in which each Ontario secondary school set and marked its own Grade 13 examinations. In Grades 1 to 12 this procedure has been fol- lowed success f u 11 y for many years and it should prove equally satisfactory in Grade 13. The problem is to establish a standard of achievement which is fair and reasonable for our students and at the same time high enough to be respected by universities and teachers' colleges, and other ins tit uti on s of higher learning to
which our graduates may seek admission.
Those who will continue at C.C.I. for another year or more
may soon look back on 1967-68 as the good old days when there was plenty of room. The Stayner Collegiate was built in 1960-61 and the Vocational Wing at Collingwood short1y afterwards. Be- cause of this we have enjoyed the luxury of adequate school facil- ities during the Nineteen-Sixties when many schools throughout the Province were overcrowded. Last September, however, our enrolment passed the 960 mark and next year we expect a further considerable increase. Portables, crowded halls, and another buil- ding programme lie ahead of us.
J. C. Mcintyre, Principal.
