BOARD MESSAGE
Greetings From the Board of Education
It is my pleasure to extend greetings on behalf of the Simcoe County Board of Education to the students and staff of the Col- lingwood Collegiate Institute.
The name of your school dates back to the beginning of 1879 when a five year old brick building became Simcoe County's first Collegiate Institute. It is interesting to note that A. F. Hunter 's "A History of Simcoe County" records the fact that quote "an addition was made to it in 1879, making a well- equipped building" unquote.
Ninety- two years ago, young people in this town were strug- gling through the inconvenience of school construction and ad- ventures in severe winter storms and they discovered, as you have, that the passage of time adds humour to situations which previously appeared to be of a serious nature.
On behalf of the Board, I wish each student every success in their schooling and all future endeavours.
W. M. Ford
Chairman 1971
