Track and field is about to become a "major" sport at C.C.I. The boys defeated Stayner boys in the annual dual meet. However , against province-wide competition very few of our boy or girl athletes fared that well.
Leading the girl athletes was thirteen year old Cheri Titus who turned out regularly for workouts after school--challenging boys and her coaches,Mr. Knox and Mr. Allard to races! By October 30, 1972 Cheri, Jane Perry, Sandra Keith, and Pat Kinsey found themselves fit enough to place a solid second in G.B.S.S.A. Mid- get Girls' cross-country competition. Cheri crossed the finish line first to become G.B.S.S.A. Individual Champ.
The boys also turned out regularly for workouts . Kevin Titus and Eric Scotney showed they way both in training and ir1 competition. At the G.B.S.S.A. meet Kevin Titus ran a strong fifth individually, leading his team to sixth place team finish.
David Hoe!, Larry Sinclair, Ed Kosierb, and Brad Johns combine with Eric and Kevin to C.C.I. an up and coming team for the fall of 1973.
In the terms of G.B.S.S.A. ranking C.C.I. girls now rank second and boys seventh. Our aim for 1974 is no worse that second overall. After all when you are "second best" you try harder, and that is what track and field is all about.
