"Shuttlecock Madness"
(Sung to " A Capital Ship for an Ocean Trip" )
A capital bunch for a Badminton Team were the Collingwood Racketeers.
No bird that flew, dismayed this crew nor broke the girls to tears.
The coach wore a beard and played so weird you'd think he was 10ft. tall. He said it was due to the number of years of playing with a tennis ball.
Oh go ye birds High ho Asmasbinglwillgo
We'll play no more on double
courts or let our rackets go-oh-oh! So off we go to win a set
And call each goof a let.
To our dismay we've had to play the strongest teams we dare.
Like Penetang and Alliston, and no buses to take us there.
But all in all we've lost so few, I think we've done quite well. Especially at leaving school before the Final Bell.
The team would like to thank our coach, C. Feagan, who devoted many hours just to teach us how to hit the "Damn thing". Our motto for in- spiration came from our coach - "Happiness is having a bird".
