QUEBEC TRIPS
Trott'sFurniture Box 26-76 Hurontario St. Collingwood , Ontario.
This year students from both Junior and Senior grades were fortunate enough to spend five days on immersion French trips to Quebec. In December, 23 grade 9 & 10 students stayed in the heart of Old Quebec City at the Clarendon Hotel. They studied the evolving ar- chitecture and town plan of Quebec City , lunched and spent the afternoon at the Urseline Monastery School, visited Ste. Anne-de-Beaupre and replayed the battle of the Plains of Abraham. In F!!bruary seventeen senior students from C.C .I. travelled to St. Donat in the Laurentions north of Mon- treal to learn about the language, history and geography of this quite rsolated region , classes conducted by a professional "Courieur de Bois", tau~ht the students how to survrve in·the bush, set traps, and read maps and compasses. This was then put to the test with a three mile snow-shoe trek through thick bush to a bivouac and a campfire. There was an evening of Quebecois entertainment, a sports carnival and a French talent night. Every aspect of the excursions was con- ducted in French.
