Mr. Freudman, Mr. Moore, Honoured Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.
This memorable evening, Saturday, October 20, marks the end of an era, but also the dawn of a new beginning, for we, the graduates of 1984. For some of us this era has spanned five years, each year being marked by its own pains, hardships, joys and triumphs. For those first few confusing days of grade nine, to where we sit now, we've all experienced some of them here, at Collingwood Collegiate Institute,
As I walked through the doors this evening, I stopped for a moment and glanced around me at the familiar faces I hadn't seen for such a long, long time and at the landmarks that are so typicallyrepresentative of traditions. Suddenly, these images jarred memories that hadn't occured to me in ages. Memories that often were special and intimate, the same memories that I'm sure every graduate is reliving tonight.
Just walking into the old gym to the sound of the band caused me to reminisce of dozens of assemblies, basketball a n d volleyball games, student council elections and dances.
Seeing many of the teachers again forced me to think back and realize how they did their utmost to try to motivate us to learn and steer us in the right direction. To them, we owe a great bid of thanks.
