The GBSSA Championship played in King City in a large swamp, poorly disguised as a football field. Both teams had to withstand ankle deep water, mud and bone-chilling cold for the "joy" of the sport Under such conditions desire and determination become dominant factors in the outcome. On this day the Fighting Owls had more of these qualities, as the per- servered for a 24 to 6 victory. In the euphoria of the post-game celebration, the discomforting cold was soon forgotten.
The 1985 players and coaches are not likely to soon forget the season of '85 . "that championship season" 1

missing the play-offs. We started the season with 46 players, but injuries, field trips, and defections left us playing with less than 30 and same make-shift line-ups . The defense was outstanding all year , allowing fewer than 11 pts . per game , no team scored more than 16. The defense was one of the top ranked in a very tough con- ference. The offense was very in- consistent early in the season , but proved to be very explosive later , as we won 3 of the last 4 games.
We were disappointed to miss play- offs, but we were in every game and played tough football from opening whistle to final gun. Thanks from
history of the school. We won the GBSSA championship for the first time in the 25 years that the modern league has been organized. In that 25 years, and earlier 100's of young men have played football at C.C.I. The sport has been a long and honourable tradition and the 1985 players and coaches are proud to add their championship to the list of honours.
In league play, the team finished with 5 wins, and 1 loss, for second place. The loss was a 3 to 0 setback against Penetang in the final game of the schedule .
In the playoffs, we met Barrie Central in the semi-finals and over-powered them 28 toO. The powerful C.C.I. wishbone running attack was in high gear, and the defense was awesome.

played in Collingwood in front of a wildly enthusiastic partisan crowd . Bradford took an early 12 to . lead as the C.C.I. defense sputtered. However the offense showed their stuff and made the count 13- 12 by halftime. In the second half the Owls got rolling, and made the score 37-18 at the final gun.
