CROSSCOUNTRYTEAM
Although C.C.I.'s cross-country running team had only 17 competitors they ran away with two of the six GBSSA team championships this year.
Leading the way for the senior girls was Sue Palmer, who claimed the Sr. girls GBSSA individual championship.
Through the Simcoe County com - petitions in the weeks prior to the GBSSA meet the midget girls team proved to be Simcoe County 's top team with Pauline and Yvonne ranking second and third in individuals. At the GBSSA meet held O c t o b e r 23 a t H o r s e s h o e V a l l e y C.C . I. midget girls came through in fine style. Yvonne and Pauline placed second and third with Cathy sixth and Theresa 13th.,
not far behind to handily defeat nearest rivals Orilla Park Street and Stouffville . The following week at OFSAA in Brockville, the girls ran well to place 7th out of 32 school finalists .
The boys were not as fortunate in team competitions as the girls ' team . However the junior boys team finished third in overall in the five week Simcoe County series of meets . At the GBSSA meet , the junior boys did not have the four runners finish and could not place in team com- petitions. Greg Nell in 16th place was our best GBSSA junior boy. James Stanley ran well in Senior Boys to place lOth. in the GBSSA finals. Hopefully next year will see more boys come out and be part of the C.C.I. Cross-country team .
