MUSIC WISE GUYS LOOSE IN TORONTO- CITY REAKS HAVOC!!!
It was certainly one of the most memorable and re- warding field trips in which a student could ever have hoped to participate. Everyone had a great time, and together we shared an experience which none of us will ever forget.
Who could ever forget staying at the Royal York Hotel on a field trip? Two nights of luxury and all the pillows and towels a person could ever want at your fingertips. No one had to make their own bed either!! Ha ha ha!!! Have you ever wanted to know how a record or tape is made? Well, we know .. and we'll never tell! Thanks to Mr. Hamlin, we toured C.B.S. Studios (not just anyone can get a tour, ya know!) At the end everyone received a free tape, compliments of C.B.S. - Billy Joel, George Michaels, Billy Idol or Bruce Springstein - who could ask for anything more? The Planetarium was sensa- tional! Can you imagine leaning back in a cozy chair and watching laser images dance on a clear, black sky (complete with moon and stars) - all choreographed to the music of Genesis? We didn't think so!!!
The highlight of the trip was, of course, the produc- tion of 'Big River' at the O'Keefe Centre. The play, which was all about the adventures of Huckleberry Finn, was fantastic! It's not everyday we get to see the guys in suits and ties!
Has your teacher ever treated you to dinner on a field trip? Our's did, at the Organ Grinder - where eating takes on a new dimension. (I'm so sure!) Have you ever been entertained in a restaurant by an organ that plays Ghost Busters?
The trip wasn't all fun, you know. We did work - well, a bit anyway. We performed twice altogether: at Erindale High School, and at the Eaton's Centre. Both performances were educational, and fun. They were quite an experience all on their own!
Then came Sunday, and before long we were back home - the events of the proceeding days transforming instantly from the present to that of a memory. I'm sure we all look forward to the Toronto trip next year and I hope that we got Bob for a bus driver again! Many thanks to our chaperones, Mr. Hamlin, Mrs. Mitchell and Miss Baxter.
