The Midget Boys' Volleyball season ended with a 5 and 3 record which gave them a berth in the Zone play-offs. Throughout the season the team showed that everyone who hung in through try- outs came to play. As skills and team play improved, the "Floyd Cheer" led the team on to many game victories. Highlights of the year included Jeff's windmill spikes, Jason's spirited play and abili- ty to adapt to setting, and Rob's banged-up knees. Rob's courage culminated with one final dive into anchovies at Pepis's!
The members of this team were: BK. ROW: Coach Nuttley, James Morris, Karol Repas, Jeff Truscott, Greg Smith, Coach Redmond. FR. ROW: Tim Lampman, Don Shackel, Marc Allard, Matt Baldry, Brad Neville, Rob Brown. ABS.: Andy Boughton, Jason Lloyd
OVER THE TOP
The Junior Boys' Volleyball team had a very difficult season . From the outset the team met stiff opposition from schools such as Eastview and lnnisdale. It is no suprise, therefore, under such cir- cumstances, that our team ended the season with a 2-wins, ?-losses record.
At the Midland Invitational, our Juniors, in a pool of 5 teams, managed to end up in 3rd place ahead of Penetang and Bradford. Quite interestingly, our team was down 14-4 against Bradford, but came back to win 16-14 with excellent team play and individual ef- fort. C.C.I. went to the semi-finals in the consolation round but were defeated by St. Theresa's.
Although the scoreboard did not favour our C.C.I. Juniors, there were many positive features emanating from the season. Each team member experienced the necessity to co-operate in the task at hand, to work even harder in times of crisis, and that "it's not over until it's over" holds a great deal of truth.
Team members to be congratulated for their work and effort are: BK. ROW: Coach (The Paper Man) Sproule, Dan (The Man) Walker, Eric (Ethey) Pommer, Rob (Air) Duda, Mike (Spike) Lougheed, Coach (Pyjama) Jones FR. ROW: Peter (Wheatey) Mitchell, Andrew (Jr. Ralph) Sneyd, Brad (Mad Dog) Sproule, Chris (Hang Time) Caughill, Carl (The Punch) French, Tyler (The Stud) Lanktree
Inconsistency plagued the Senior Boys' Volleyball team this season. Although the team did not reach the playoffs, the skill development over the season was very gratifying.
Many of the matches stretched into the five game battles. By far the most exciting, however, was the final match against the first- place and previously undefeated Banting Marauders. This match was played on our home court before a very supportive crowd over a two and a half hour time period. The Fighting Owls scored their most impressive victory of the season.
The Sr. Owls were: BK. ROW: Coach Parkes, Sean Sykes, Kelly McLe.nnan, Dean Young, Doug Sybersma, James McArthur, Reg Sheffield MID. ROW: Ray Sheffield, Jim Leithead John Paul Rhodes, Ryan Phillips, Rien Meesters, Rob Holroyd' BOT.: Tony Madden
