Junior Football
1988 was a year of growth for the Junior Football Team. In September, the coaches knew there was potential. Their feeling was, "we should be able to play .500 ball at least. If we develop and improve, and play with desire, we could go a long way." The team improved every game. They played with lots of heart and loads of desire. They went as far as they could go - to the G.B.S.S.A. final!
Unfortunately, they lost 26 to 21 in a well- played championship game. The only thing worse than losing the 'big game' is not playing in it. The Rghting Owls were there! They played tough football, but sportsmanlike football, not only in the championship game, but all season.
The members of the 1988 Junior Football Team have every reason to be proud of themselves. Coaches Edwards, Simpson and Rhodes are proud of them and pleased to be associated with such a fine group of young men.
The season's record for the team was 7 wins and 3 losses. They finished in 2nd place in league play and were runners-up in the play- offs. They may have lost a few games, but the 1988 Junior Football players are winners as athletes and as people.

C.C.I. SENIOR FIGHTING OWLS
The C.C.I. Senior Rghting Owls finished another successful season posting an B-2 record and a second place finish in league competition. The team advanced to the G.B.S.S.A. finals for the second time in three years but unfortunately lost in the champion- ship game. This team was an outstanding blend of explosive offensive power, which averaged over 25 points per game and a stingy defense which gave us less than six points per match. The depth offensively was illustrated by the fact that the scoring was spread between 8 ball carriers, 7 pass receivers and 12 scorers overall.
Most notable among the " 0 " were Rob Buchanan with 1000 yards rushing, and Reinhardt Keller with 780 yards. In the air, Tim Bulmer and Darren Smith caught 12 Todd Guzzwell passes apiece to lead the team. The
Top Scorer was versatile full-back, fieldiJoal ace Reinhardt Keller with 66 points.
The defense was equally impressive with their dominating play in each game. Bill Gour1ey, Troy Ferguson, Jeff Watts, Dean Lockhart, and Tim Edwards anchored with solid 'D' .
Off the field the Seniors also were impressive raising $500 through programme advertising, hosting an "awesome" football party and an "elegant" January football banquet.
Coaches Hunwicks, Berni, Purdy and Traynor would like to thank all the players on the Senior Owls for their enthusiasm, hard work and most of all for their CLASS both on and off the field.
