On September 6th., we 'oldtimers' at C.C.I. noticed some 475 new faces wander- ing the halls. Some looked totally lost, others seemed very confused and the vast majority appeared DOWNRIGHT SCARED! Who were these poor, wandering souls? Why, these were our grade nine students getting their first taste of life 'in the big school' .
Cathy Booth never realized that Col- lingwood Collegiate was so big! She still shakes when she recalls that first day of
school. She couldn't find her first period class and ended up getting called down to the office. She made sure that never hap- pened again! Tammy Miller faced the same dilemma in not being able to find her classrooms. To make matters worse, she kept forgetting her combination! Don't feel bad, Tammy - John McDermid and John Mead admitted that their first day jitters also caused them to forget their combinations too! Joan Hawboldt remembered her com- bination. HOWEVER, she couldn't recall
where she put her locker!
Perhaps, of all 1he new grade nines,
Cathy Fischer should receive the award for "Worst First Day at C.C.I.". She began by being 10 minutes late after the an- nouncements and then ran into the wrong homeroom. Was she embarrassed?!?! If that wasn't enough, she forgot to lock up her locker and when she got back to it, she found that someone else had taken it and put their lock on it.
The best part of the first day of school for

MID. LT.: Heather Foley prefers to bring her own lunch instead of dining in the cafeteria!
MID.: Chris Mercer finds that being a new student can be a heavy load on your shoulders!
BOT. RT.: Derek Pilon finds that C.C.I. is a really good way to meet some fantastic girls such as Amanda Hawtonl
