Christmas at C.C.I. this year was one that everyone will surely remember. Under the direction of 'Forest Ranger' Grainger, he and his assistants, Rien Meester, Jim Leithead + Rob Blakeman went out and brought outdoor life into our school by placing a gigantic Christmas tree in the front lobby. Mr. Martin's class added the finishing touches with an assortment of ribbons and balls. We didn't get to see the true effect and superb job done by all participants until the lights were lit. Just this sight alone brought a smile to everyone's face and made each person realize that the festive season was fast approaching.
For a week, each morning homerooms were put to work attempting to convey the Christmas message on their doors. After facing steep competition, Mr. Coukell's class was named the winner of the door decorating contest. The entire school also participated in the Annual Food Drive, collecting over 1000 cans of non-perishable goods to be distributed in the community.
As usual, the Christmas Concert was a tremendous success and will be remembered for Mr. Moore's fabulous voice and Kirk Whitlock's 'flashing scene'!

REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY
Minutes after students filled the Old Gym, the house lights were turned off and the spotlights turned on towards the stage.
Rien Meesters, who was the M.C., came on and gave a short speech, then proceeded to introduce the first performance, which was given by Amnesty International. The group vocalized a song called " Freedom" and upon con- clustion, stage lights went out and a spotlight came shining on Rien Meesters who introduced Ron Martin, a W.W.II veteran. Mr. Martin talked to us about some of the horrors of war and the importance of Remembrance. He then read a poem called "In Flanders Field". The student body thanked Mr. Mar- tin with a round of applause and then the C.C.I. choir came on to sing "Wind Beneath My Wings".
Mrs. Chandler's Grade 12 Drama Class performed a small play. This group presented a creative movement piece depicting the destructive nature of war.
Together they worked to put a picture puzzle together which when finish- ed became a tree and bright sun. This wall was knocked down by war and then later put back together. When it was together again, the tree had a broken branch suggesting that things are not the same after such a devasta- tion like war . Another way of looking at this play is; life, death , rebuilding and changes in rebuilding of lives of people who either suffered or were destroyed during a war full of nothing, but, hatred and anger.
The group used mask and costume to help create the mood.
At the end of the Remembrance Day assembly, each person returned to their home room a little wiser about the meaing of this day.
