em·bar·rass(imber'~s) vt.[Fr.embarrasser,lit.,toen- cumber, obstruct < Sp. embarazar < It. imbarrazzare < imbarrare, to bar, impede < in- (L. in-) + barra, BARt] 1. to cause to feel self-conscious. confused, and ill at ease;
Let's face it, we have all experienced these moments. Times in our everyday lives when something totally unexpected happens to us, leaving us completely humiliated and wanting to dig a deep hole and crawl in. Colour us blushing! Colour us embarrassed! Colour us wanting to be ANYWHERE else! We should also face the fact that ten years from now when we recall some of those embarrassing moments at C.C.I. , we will still feel slightly silly .
What exactly would embarrass a C.C.I. stu- dent? For Laura Collins it was something as simple as running down the hall on Initiation Day yelling, "I'm a pregnant butterfly!" Chris Cleary blushes when recalling the time he "walked into a class and stayed there for 1/2 hour before realizing that it wasn't his class!" Kim McGillvray found that "flipping down the stairs" was bad enough, but it was even worse "that my girlfriend, Jen Ludlow, stood there and laughed!" Paula Collins found that
another way to bring a blush to one's face was to "go up behind a boy and give him a hug before realizing he was a complete stranger!" Mario Blanchet still feels the need to hide his head when describing the time he skipped a class only to be caught by his teacher!
Posting a picture of Ron Perkins lifting weights in the front hall for all to see will always remain as his most embarrassing mo- ment at C.C.I.! Please don't think for a mo- ment, however, that the teachers of our great school are immune to uncomfortable situa- tions! Can't some of us still recall Mr. Berni's bright shade of red when the Playboy Bunny came into his music class carrying a bouquet of birthday balloons? So remember- next time you face an embarrassing moment in your life, don't worry. We have all had them and we still admire you. After all, 'It's What's Inside That Counts!'
