The fall fashion for 1989 was the tapestry vest. The "twins" Robin Milhausen and Megan Toppings from the Clothing class created very special vests. Others such as Lynn Keenan en- joyed making and painting their own sweatshirts.
Grade 11 enjoyed many practical labs from cream soups to stir-fry to homemade bread. Wayne Hunwicks was a frequent visitor especially when there were butter tarts.
Grade 9 Foods classes found out some safety rules! One important rule that most of them will long remember is that you don't plug the electric kettle in at the same time you set it on the hot burner on the stove.
Students in the Parenting Co-op tallied up many hours with preschoolers at the 2 Daycares, 3 Nursery Schools and the Primary Grades of 5 Elementary Schools. Lori Fuhre, Denise Moran, Jennifer Collins, to name a few, represented C.C.I. in the community. They have been involved in supervising the children and actively participating in field trips and special events. Chris Meeks dressed as a pencil for Hallowe'en and Dayna Cousins painted the children 's faces with "I am thankful for" messages on Thanksgiving.
A highlight in Mrs. Plater's class was the preparation of moose steak which was quickly demolished by Mike and Shane.
In the spring term the Fashion Arts students look forward to presenting spring and summer fashions. Independent Living students will be given expert advice on setting up a place of their own. Many guests from the community share their knowledge on such topics as Leases, Paint- ing the bedroom walls and 101 ways to serve Kraft dinner. The Housing class will be involved in at least one tour of Collingwood houses especially with the book "Collingwood-Historic Homes and Buildings" being published this year.
Parenting and OAC students will be involved in research projects which will often involve surveys on such topics as the Single Parent, the Joys of Parenting, the Role of the father in today's society. Last spring the students hosted a disability awareness week. Chris Evanoff was one of the students involved, along with Mrs. Plater, in planning and presentin!; this week with Breaking Down Barriers.
As well the Parenting and OAC students look forward to the annual Simcoe County Family Studies conference held at Georgian College in April.

To kick off the school's Reading Program, the library ran a week· long book fair. HUndreds of brand new paperbacks were sold at discount prices.
Another memorable event for the library during this school year included . . . Hallowe'en '89. The pleasant library staff was spirited away and replaced by these three scary witches'
Each year the Drama classes provide a variety of skits and plays for both school and com- munity. Such undertakings are under the direction of Mrs. An- nie Chandler (TOP) and Mr. Bill Redding (BELOW).
