Five teachers and twenty-one students left on an early Thursday morning prepared to conquer the wilds. Armed only with back packs stuffed full of food and supplies, they got into their canoes Fri- day morning.
The first night they slept under the stars, almost unaware of their surroundings, and the extreme cold temperatures.
The next day they were up bright and early, ready to paddle but because of the wind, the water was rough. When the weather changed radically from hail to sun few even ventured for a swim. The air was cold but the water was warm!
All day Saturday and part of Sunday these brave campers continued to canoe.
They soon became aware of how hungry the lit- tle critters of the forest really were as they learn- ed not to leave their food outside of their tents because the raccoons discovered that there were treasures in the bags that lay in the wilderness.
Despite all of the little mishaps, the trips turned out to be a great success, and they all hope to see you on the next canoe trip.
