t's What's Inside That Counts!
According to Elly Golby, if a female wanted to make a fashion statement at C.C.I., she would be found wearing such apparel as standard jeans, ha[f-cut boots and a leather or suede jacket. Clothes in dark purple or black were the popular colour trends. Likewise , Todd Hazelwood, a very fashion-conscious senior, felt that the 'in' male attire ranged from Levi's, Nike low-cut running shoes, cowboy boots to sweat shirts and sweaters. Fluorescent colours were the norm. However, as much as we tend to be a clothes- minded society and feel the need to buy the latest trend, we realize that such attire is only a facade. Forget the 'Sun Ice' ski jacket in 3 brilliant colours, the jeans that were ripped on purpose and the, 'Vuarnet' t-shirt and by just looking at 'WHAT'S INSIDE' the people that attend C.C.I., one will find a school overflowing with incredibly talented , sensitive and personable students and staff.
Consider one such person, Rob Fitzsimmons, for a moment. In his teacher's eyes, he is considered to be 'a perfect student' because of 'his great sense of humour and he gives a lot more of himself than what's required'. He also just happens to be a whiz on the AUTO- CAD! Scott Kerr, a grade 9 student, is recognized for his en- thusiasm that is shown in French class while Matt Maclean deserves a pat on the back by Mr. Hunwicks for his outstanding map skills displayed in Geography class. Jen Smith, a continual Honours student, retains her high academic standards by com- pleting superb assignments in graphics and map-making. Two new students to C.C.I., Jennifer Ludlow and Alana Tennant, expressed their immediate gain of school spirit by painting a history mural. Tim Cullen's performance in OAC Law class and his production of a video-tape on 'Insider Trading' overwhelmed his fellow classmates and teacher! Charles McArthur conducted an excellent seminar on the adoption process. Jason Wilcox deserved a round of applause for a complete turn-around in his math mark as well as Penny Halli- day for her 'exceptional co-operation and superb projects' that were displayed in Science class. With her quiet manner, she was able to inspire others to excell. The list of contributions made by each in- dividual at C.C.I. is endless, whether it be in the classroom , out on the playing field or at a social event. Thanks goes to each and every one of you for just being you. After all, 'IT'S WHAT'S INSIDE THAT COUNTS!'
