Wearing the 'GOLD SWEATER' not only is a sign of great pride, but one that also represents a great deal of responsibility. A Prefect is required to perform lunch duties (which means that one's lunches are interrupted), assist with assemblies, organize special events such as 'Grade 9 Day' and supervise at dances. In order to be nominated as a Prefect, one must be a Senior student and maintain a specific academic level.
The benefits? One gets to work with a fantastic group of fun people as well as taking in a Blue Jays game!
