THE HALLS
ARE SUDDENLY QUIET!
Twice a year. once in January and again in June. the halls of C.C.I. are suddenly void of student life as every- one takes to a quiet corner. settles down and hits the books. THE EXAMS ARE COMING/II The test that could make or break one's success in a course . The test that counts for a portion of the final mark! It suddenly becomes a time when some individuals began to wish. "If only ..."! "If only I had missed a few cheap Tuesday nights at the show! If only I had not waited until the last moment! If only I ~~dn't skipped a couple of times to go skiing! If only .. .
There are many scholars who can be seen filling the work tables of the library weeks in advance of the end of semester. Rarely throughout the semester are these people seen without a book open in front of them and a pen In hand . There are also many scholars who could form "the Last Minute Club". These are the students who prefer the cram method of studying . They are also known to rush to a teacher the eve before the finals and ask. "Can you tell me what I still owe you? You mean I didn't hand in that essay?" They then rush home at an incred- ible speed. scramble through their notes attempting to put together an essay that was assigned 4 weeks in ad- vance, but these individuals complete the task in a little over 1 hour (title page and all). Of course. no one will admit to either being or knowing a member of this club.
Mid.: "Amanda Howton," to quote Mrs. Watts. our Gui- dance secretary, "You do not look like a happy camper!!!" Amanda has just realized that exams are less than 1 week awayl ~ot. Lt.: Shelby Woorts · ''I'm practi- cally in the dark when it comes to these science exper- iments!" Mid. Top.: Steve Czerny has been on the Honour Roll throughout his high school career. He takes pride in achieving academic excellence. Mid.: Jennifer Hunter, a grade 9 student, enjoys the challenge that Mr. Jardine presents in her math class. Bot.: Corry Kennedy and Ja- nice Mcintyre prefer the OLD method of reading a no- vel. "You don't go out and rent the moviellt is much better to buy the Cole's notes!" Top Rt.: Phillip Blanchard takes his time in Ceramics class. He wants a 9ood mark on this project. Mid. Rl.: "Sure. I love to study!' - Darren Mataw- owllsch Bot. Lt.: Julia Gray· " All of this work is driving me crazy!!! "
