Mr. Jim Russell
Mr. Russell was born in Fergus Ontario. He met Mrs. Russell in grade 12 at high school in Fer- gus.
When asked, "What made you decide to become a math teacher?", he replied by saying he had wanted to become an engineer.
Mr. Russell noted that one of the most memorable events in his teaching career was when he was coaching a football team that had made it to the finals. When they were against the Mid- land team, they lost by one point. However, on a happier note, he recalled that it was just the thought of the team playing in the finals that really mattered to him.
He has run some interesting businesses during the summer months, a few of these include: bike rentals; and ski rentals (both of which were in Wasaga Beach). His hobbies include: cross country skiing, getting his golf game back up to par. Doing some work around the house is one of his future plans now that he has retired. He has 31 years of teaching in total. He has taught at C.C.I. for 28 years, but 3 years were in Europe with the department of National Defense. C.C.I. will miss you, Mr. Russell!
Mrs. Dorthy Henley
Mr. Dorothy Henley retired from our school last June with a total of 34 years experience. She arrived in Collingwood in
1977, after having spent 10 years in North York's Junior High system. She became De- partment Head of Family Stu- dies in 1983. During her time at C.C.I., she introduced in- novative and challenging courses. Her particular interest has been in the area of child care and parenting.
With her husband, Mrs. Hen- ley owned and operated a Canadian crafts store in Mea- ford, 'The Growling Bear' and they also had a marina sup- ply outfit. They have retired from these ventures in order to spend more time travelling and sailing together.
Mrs. Henley has made an impressive contribution to Family Studies and to C.C.I. In her own quiet, unassuming way, she has been involved with Commencement and the school's musical productions. We wish her well on her retire- ment.
