Gene Currie was chosen along with 77 others from across Ontario and the Soviet Union to attend a confer- ence at York University on various topics ranging from political culture to economy in both countries. "I've never really had an opportunity to meet a Russian and to get to know them. I hope to gain a better understanding of how the Soviets live their lives!"
Gene learned a lot from the conference . "There are a lot of sim- ilarities between the two countries," she said, cit- ing the examples of eth- nic conflict in both nations.
CCI's bands have a right to toot their own horns. In February the Senior Jazz Ensemble and 'The Most Danger Band' brought home silver medals while the Senior Concert Band received a bronze medal in the Canada Music-Fest competition in Parry Sound. BELOW: Stephanie Young on her trumpet.
