The Midget Boys Volleyball Team had an excellent season. During reg- ular league play they had a perfect 10-0 season. They attended two midget tournament hosted by Elmvale and Eastview High School and brought home gold medals in both tournaments. They also competed in the Barrie Central Junior Tournament where they faced a higher net and older more experi- enced opposition and still managed to bring home the silver medals. For the Junior Boys, it was a very successful and entertaining season! Our Junior squad qualified for GB's for the first time in many years. Our regular record of 6 wins- 2 losses was characterized by Jeff Stanley, Jason Weis, Ryan McNichol, Mike Neil and Jay Wiele. the team ended in second place then came the playoffs at Penetang, on November 26. We had been prepared but victory eluded C.C.I. The squad, forfeited victory to lnnisdale, St. Joe's of Barrie and that was it - the end of another enjoyable season. The members of the team (MID. We started the season with great promise, completing the practice schedule with a min- imum of injuries and a high level of skill development. We had a great day at.our own Invitational Tournament ending the day one game short in the Consolation Final.
Innisdale seemed to have our number all year, but we kept at it and peaked just before the playoffs with notable wins over Eastview, Le Caron, Peneg- tang, Orangeville, Kincardine and Midland at Eastview tournament on Oc- tober 31. We played a tough team from North Bay to end our season with scores of 13-15 and 8-15.
Highlights of the year included the spirited play of veteran hitter Don Shackell, setter Marc Allard, hitter Carmine Luongo, setter, Andy Bough- ton and defensive specialists, Chris Pegelo, and Peter Mitchell. Excellent rookie play was turned in by Jamie Robinson, one of the strongest two-way players in the senior division this year, Doug Tetzner who became a back row specialists and Jason Edwards who learned to cover large areas of the courts. Tim Lampman and Mike Boone reappeared with new aggression to help the team while Brad Neville anchored a rotating front line with au- thority. We will miss the excitement that this team generated in tourna- ment play and look to further develop the returning players into a strong unit next year. Members ofthe team (BOT.
