Wrestling + Soccer
In spite ofrumours ofits demise, Wrestling became a very viable sport once again this school year under coaching of former student Jay Grainger and Mr. Seidle. We began with a very strong showing of more than 15 wres- tlers. Numbers diminished until we were left with the following members (MID. RT.) of: (TP. RW.) Coach Grainger, Co-coach Whitlock, P . Haston, S. Howard, M. North, T. Winters, J. Strampei, J. Simpson. (BOT. RW.)R.Venus, Phillips, J. Noble, J. Garland, H. Beatson, H. Beatson, M. Robinson, Coach Seidle. As most of the members were in grade nine and our numbers were few, we were not competitive on the team level. Individuals such as Marcus Robinson and Ham and Heath Beatson exper- ienced a great deal of success. Heath repre- sented C.C.I. at OFSSA in Windsor after winning a silver at the GBSSA finals in Mid- land.
It is hoped that wrestling will continue at C.C.I. so that these young wrestlers will be able to reach their potential. Ham and Heath Beat- son both qualified for the Ontario Winter Games to be held in Cornwall March 11-13.
Jay Grainger deserves a lot of credit for his efforts to keep the wrestling programme alive at C.C.I. lnspite ofthe difficulty ofworking full time and coaching, he managed to keep going.
This year's Soccer Team was the most suc- cessful in the history of girls soccer at C.C.I. As well, they were one of the most attractive! Mr. Vanderweerdhofand Mr. Moore are very proud of their hard work and sense of humour
which made for a more enjoyable season for everyone. Opponents came from such schools as Holy Trinity, Barrie Eastview, and Jean Va- nier resulting in a 50/50 win/loss record. Mem- bers ofthis team (BOT.) were:(FT.RW.) Coach Moore, Erin Lee, Ria Tesseris, Melissa Abbots, Kristie Melanson, Lisa Corriueau, Amber Lud- low, Melody Sammons, Michelle King, Emily Cole, Coach Vanderweerdhof. (BK. RW.)
Martha Lee, Lynn Pettit, Jen Currie, Shan- non Stoutenburg, Erin Fraser, Angela Stephen- son, Marnin Ilic, Jodie Robinson, Sian Henderson.
