Each spring, large numbers of Canadian students attempt the Canadian Mathema- tics Competition. Aimed at challenging the country's best student the competition is now a major activity in many schools. For 62041 students in grades nine, ten and el- even representing 1650 Canadian schools the 1992 challenge day was Wednesday, February 19 CCI entered 58 students and here are the results. In the grade nine Pas- eel competition, CCI placed eighth out of seventeen schools in zone sixty-four. Jeff Hiltz, Mark Phillips and Krista Greffel made the honour roll with Jeff rambing 21 out of 314 competition and recieved a medal. Certificates of distinction for stu- dents rambing in the top 25% of all con- testants in Canada are awarded to Jeff as
well as to Mark Phillips, Krista Greffel, Greg Flynn and Ken MeNeil. In the grade 10 Caylez competition, CCI's team placed 8th out of 18 schools in the zone. Adam Federer, Ollie Blake and Ben Smith made it to the honour roll with Adam rambling 24th out of 252 students. Adam as well as to Ollie and Ben for rambling in the top 25% in Canada. Finally, the grade 11 Fer- mat team from CCI came 7th out of 14 schools with Tameez Sundeyi, Andrew Mickelson and Uyen Tran mobing it to the honour roll. Tameez placed 13th out of 153 competition and received a medal. Tameez, Andrew and Uyen as well as all the other participants letters of distincition for end- ing up in the top 25%. Congratulations are extended to these students for their excel- lent efforts and mathematical talent.
