COMPETITION AT GBSSA
SENIORS ARE UNBEA TEN GBSSA CHAMPS
At the CCI Invitational Jr Golf Tour- nament held at Blue Mt. on May 10/93, the CCI Jrs placed third with a score of 351. The team consisted of the follow- ing 6 players with the best 4 scores counting: Ryan Sly who carded an 83, Ben Smith (84), Jake Hibbs (91), Andrew McKay (93), Paul Sproule (94) and Chris Stoutenburg (105)
The GBSSA Championship Golf Tour- nament for Juniors was held on May 17/93 at Blue Mt. Golf & Country Club. The weather was cold and rainy but the CCI Juniors were equal to the challenge as they finished first in the competition, with a team total of 346, edging out a strong St. Theresa team by only one stroke. The 6 man team consisted of: Ben Smith (84), Ryan Sly (85), Chris Melnyk (88), Andrew McKay (89), Ed Akitt (89), and Tim Rice.
Coach Jardine, Ryan Sly, Ed Akitt, and Chris Melnyk proudly display the GBSSA plaque, after demonstrating championship Fighting Owl skill and spirit!
There are only three golf tournaments for seniors in a school year and for the first time ever, CCI Seniors finished first in all three.
On May 22/93, CCI hosted the annual GBSSA Senior Golf Championship. Nineteen schools participated, but host CCI with a team total of 318 won the championship, followed by Bracebridge with 321.
